About this experience

Apart from the harvesting of apples nothing speaks more of the growing seasons bounty as the winter squash. An easy crop to grow, its success depending however on the late summer and early autumn being warm and bright, so as  to ripen and develop the sweet deep flavours that are unique to the winter squash. We harvest them generally in late September to early October, once the large-leafed foliage begins to die back to reveal hundreds of fruits in all shapes and sizes that have been covered by the foliage since June. They are then washed and placed in one of our greenhouses to cure.

Join us on Saturday 19th October to celebrate these beautiful fruits. We will have many varieties for sale including decorative squash. Our edible squash includes our favourite Uchiki Kuri (onion squash), a baby butternut called Honey patch and Koginut as well as large squashes such as Marina di Chioggia, Musquee de Provence and Queensland Blue. Candy roaster is known for its exceptionally sweet flesh, so perfect for making pumpkin pie. Baby Boo, Dinosaur and Swan neck can be used as beautiful and colourful decorations on a table or in a bowl in the kitchen.

We will also have some recipe suggestions from Skye and her chefs with many ways you can cook these versatile and delicious gourds.

As we have limited parking and harvest all produce especially for this event, we ask that you register your attendance through our website. Tickets are free of charge and allow entry any time between 9am to 1pm.
