Our biodynamic market garden spans eight acres, including our orchard, polytunnels, and glasshouses.

We cultivate a vast assortment of fruit, vegetables, and herbs throughout the year, working in collaboration with our Culinary Director, Skye Gyngell, and the chefs at Heckfield Place to identify the varieties and quantities required.

Alongside fresh produce, we grow thousands of flower stems, which are carefully chosen for their beauty and form to complement the decor of the house. Our flowers are dried throughout the summer for use during winter.

We biodynamically grow, harvest and dry roses, chamomile, calendula and lavender for our sister company, Wildsmith Skin, to be used in a variety of their products.

We apply our own cow manure and compost to our soil. This builds long term fertility by introducing more organic matter into the heart of the soil. Over the years, we have seen considerable improvement in the quality of the soil and vitality of the crops we grow.

We first began the process of converting the market garden to organic in 2017 and it has been biodynamically certified with Demeter since 2020. We look to biodynamic principles to ensure the highest quality and greatest flavour. We believe that taking all unseen forces and influences into consideration connects us to the land in a humble and positive way.
